Frequently Asked Questions?

What is Occupational Therapy (OT)?

Occupational Therapy helps children develop the skills they need for everyday life. These include motor skills, self-care routines, emotional regulation, and sensory processing—all essential for success at home, school, and in the community.

Occupational Therapy is helpful for children with:

    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Developmental Delays
    • Sensory Processing Difficulties
    • ADHD
    • Fine and Gross Motor Delays
    • Feeding Difficulties
    • Emotional or Behavioral Challenges

Our OT programs focus on:

  • Fine motor skills (writing, cutting, dressing)
  • Gross motor skills (balance, coordination)
  • Sensory regulation (responding to sounds, textures, lights)
  • Self-care skills (feeding, toileting, hygiene)
  • Emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • Play skills and social participation

OT sessions are fun, play-based, and individualized. Sessions may include:

  • Sensory activities
  • Movement-based exercises
  • Visual-motor games
  • Functional life skill practice
  • Parent coaching and strategies for home

Common signs your child may benefit from OT include:

  • Difficulty with handwriting or holding a pencil
  • Sensory sensitivities (avoiding textures, loud noises)
  • Trouble with dressing, feeding, or toileting
  • Poor balance or coordination
  • Emotional outbursts or trouble calming down

We offer comprehensive assessments to determine if OT is recommended.

In Ontario, many Occupational Therapy services are covered through private insurance or government funding programs (such as OAP or private pay). Our team can guide you through the process.
